Key Performance Tests for Export Guardrails

Test reports are essential for bidding on overseas road infrastructure projects. It is important for manufacturers to understand international test requirements to avoid failed sample tests.

Impact Crash Test This is the most critical test under EN1317 or AASHTO standards. A test vehicle hits the guardrail at set speed and angle. Inspectors verify whether the barrier can restrain the vehicle without penetration and keep a safe exit angle. The test result defines the guardrail containment level.

Salt Spray Corrosion Test Salt spray testing evaluates anti-corrosion performance of hot-dip galvanized or zinc-aluminum coatings. Coastal projects often require 1000+ hours of neutral salt spray test. Coating thickness and uniformity will be stated in MTC and test certificates.

Mechanical Property Test Tensile and bending tests are carried out on steel beams and posts to check yield strength, tensile strength and elongation. Substandard steel may break brittlely under impact and lose energy absorption capacity, which is mandatory for projects in Europe, America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Dimensional Tolerance Inspection Strict tolerances apply to beam width, wave depth, plate thickness, post profile and hole spacing. Excessive dimension errors cause assembly problems on site and weaken the whole structure under impact. We support sample testing and supply complete MTC and test documents to meet tender requirements worldwide.
