1.Check the surface High-quality steel plates have a smooth, uniform surface with no cracks, bubbles, scars, scratches, or heavy oxide scale. Poor-quality plates often show pitting, peeling, or unevenness.
2.Inspect edges and cuts Clean cuts with no obvious burrs, delamination, or tearing indicate stable production. Loose, cracked, or layered edges usually mean poor quality.
3.Measure dimensions Use a caliper to check thickness and width. The smaller the deviation from the nominal size, the higher the precision. Excessive deviation affects installation and structural strength.
4.Verify markings Standard steel plates are clearly marked: grade, dimensions, heat number, manufacturer, etc. Be cautious if markings are blurry, missing, or incomplete.
5.Check the cross-section The cut section should be dense and uniform, without pores, porosity, or delamination. Voids or layered structures indicate substandard internal quality.
