First, demand for clean energy equipment surges. Europe, America and the Middle East are expanding solar, wind and green hydrogen projects. Grade 304 stainless steel is widely used for solar brackets and energy storage cabinets; 316L and duplex stainless steel serve as key materials for electrolyzers and hydrogen pipelines. Special anti-chloride stainless steel gradually replaces costly titanium, with overseas stainless steel consumption for green hydrogen equipment rising over 20% annually. Stainless steel is also mandatory for EV battery enclosures and charging piles, bringing steady bulk orders from North America and Europe.
Second, coastal and desalination projects create robust demand. GCC countries rely on desalination for domestic water supply, and 2205 duplex steel is the standard material for high-pressure pipelines and evaporators thanks to superior salt spray resistance. Southeast Asian and Australian coastal roads & offshore platforms abandon carbon steel, adopting 316L stainless steel for structures to cut long-term anti-corrosion maintenance costs.
Third, stricter standards for high-end industrial & hygienic applications. EU and Southeast Asian food & pharmaceutical industries mandate hygienic seamless stainless tubes and cold rolled sheets with strict limits on surface roughness and metal precipitation. Duplex steel is widely adopted in chemical and oil-gas extraction to resist acid, alkali and hydrogen sulfide corrosion. Certifications including PED and ASME become compulsory purchasing requirements.
Fourth, low-carbon & recyclable materials gain priority. After EU CBAM implementation, overseas buyers favor low-carbon smelted, fully recyclable stainless steel. Demand for low-grade 200 series shrinks, while durable 300 series and duplex steel enjoy stable premium prices.
